Purpose of Program

Fulbright Visiting Specialists Program aims at promoting understanding of Islamic civilization and the history, politics, and culture of today's Muslim world by people in the U.S. and at strengthening resources for enriched understanding of relevant issues.
The program offers a unique opportunity for U.S. colleges and universities to host specialists from countries with a significant Muslim population for short-term (3 to 6 weeks) programs of intensive lecturing, public outreach, and consultation. The Fulbright Visiting Specialists will lecture on and off campus on a variety of humanities and social science disciplines, including the arts, with some relevance to Islamic society or civilization.
The Fulbright Visiting Specialists Program also promotes interfaith dialogue through on-campus and off-campus activities. They will also work together with the U.S. host institution on projects with longer-term benefits such as curriculum consultation, faculty development, and institutional linkage-building.
