Global Fulbright Network
Since 1946, the Fulbright Program has awarded over 275,000 grants to people around the world to "increase mutual understanding between the people of the United States and the people of other countries..."
The Fulbright Association coordinates with Fulbright alumni organizations worldwide to foster international awareness and understanding and to strengthen the global Fulbright network.
Through the Fulbright Association's web site, Fulbrighters (alumni and current grantees) can:
Find information on alumni organizations around the world;
Identify U.S. Fulbright Association chapters and learn about their programs;
Locate Fulbrighters through the online directory*;
Sign-up to be a mentor or receive mentoring through the Mentoring Service*;
Post a resume or search for a job in the Career Center*;
Communicate with the Fulbright community via message boards* or chat room*;
Update the Fulbright community on individual activities and achievements*;
Find information on available Fulbright grant opportunities;
Find information on the administration of the Fulbright Program in the U.S. and abroad.
As part of its International Fulbright Alumni Development Project, the Fulbright Association has published a report on fund raising activities as a resource for Fulbright alumni organizations around the world. Download the report. [PDF].
In 2003, the Fulbright Association’s Global Fulbright Alumni Seminar brought together 19 representatives from 14 countries with approximately 200 U.S. Fulbright alumni to: 1) build the community of participants at the conference, enhancing their ability to contribute and engage with each other; 2) engage people in developing a strategy for building the international community outside the bounds of the conference and between conferences; and 3) involve conferees in developing an approach for supporting the Fulbright Program. In 2002, a special International Fulbright Alumni Workshop was held for representatives of Fulbright alumni organizations around the world. The workshop, designed to enhance communication among international Fulbright alumni organizations and to increase the Fulbright alumni community's collective ability to support the Fulbright exchange program, brought together over 30 representatives from 22 countries.
